All article submissions, the peer-review process and production (from acceptance to publication) are handled by the Editorial Office in China; all enquiries should be directed to them at the address below. Further information may also be obtained at the PST homepage.
Plasma Science and Technology Editorial Office Institute of Plasma Physics Chinese Academy of Sciences PO Box 1126 Hefei 230031 People's Republic of China Tel: +86 551 5591617, 5591388 Fax: +86 551 5591310 Email: pst@ipp.ac.cn
All manuscripts should be prepared in English.
Electronic submissions Electronic submissions should be sent to pst@ipp.ac.cn
Hardcopy submissions Three hard copies of the original manuscript, including the original ink drawings and/or glossy photographs of figures (less than 7.5 ×7.5 cm in size) should be submitted by postal mail to the Editorial Office. Submissions by fax cannot be accepted.
Article preparation The text of the article should be prepared in Microsoft Word, PDF or LaTex formats. All source codes should be sent together with the PDF or EPS of the text. Figures should be prepared as separate files, preferably in Encapsulated Post Script (EPS) or TIFF formats. It is also the author's responsibility to ensure that the article is the correct length, avoiding excessive space in figures and ensuring correct numbering of equations. Submission implies that the manuscript has not been published previously, and is not currently submitted for publication elsewhere. Please include your email address, phone and fax number on the first page of the manuscript.
Style guide
Title. The title should be simple, concise and informative.
Authors' names and affiliations. A list of all the authors, as well as their corresponding addresses, should be provided. Each address should be preceded by a numerical superscript corresponding to the same superscript after the name of the author concerned. Addresses should contain all information necessary for effective mail delivery.
Abstract. An abstract must accompany each article. It should be a concise summary of the results, conclusions and/or other significant items in the paper. Together with the title, it must be adequate as an index to all the subjects treated in the paper and will be used as a base for indexing. Any mathematical expressions should be avoided. All non-standard symbols and abbreviations should be defined. Footnote indicators should not be used. A reference, if necessary, should be included in square brackets. The results, the conclusions, and/or other significant items should be summarized in the paper.
Physics and Astronomy Classification Scheme (PACS) indexing codes. Each manuscript must be given PACS numbers. There should be no more than three index number codes; the principal index code should be placed first.
Main body of the paper. Manuscripts must be typed, doubled spaced with margins and indented paragraphs. Each manuscript must be complete with figures, tables, references, subtitles, etc.
Mathematical material. All mathematical equations should be carefully written and checked. Greek letters, upper- and lower-case letters, superscripts, subscripts, vectors, tensors and matrices should be identified in the margin. Equation numbers should be Arabic numbers enclosed in parentheses in the right-hand margin. Both vectors and tensors should be typed in a bold format. All quantities in both the equations and/or the formula should be explained/defined the first time they appear in the manuscript.
Italic type should be avoided for the following: Units of measurement ( e.g., km, g, K, cm-2 , S-2), mathematical signs such as sin, cos, log, exp, etc. and chemical formulas.
References. Citations in the text to references should be numerical and strictly in the order of their first appearance. Citation of a journal article must include the names of the authors (or, optionally, the first three author followed by 'et al' if there are four or more), the year of publication, the abbreviation of the journal name, the volume number and the initial page number. The journal abbreviations are those established by Chemical Abstracts Service and published in Chemical Abstracts Service Source Index. If the abbreviation cannot be determined, the full title should be given. Citation of a monograph must include the name(s) of the author(s), the exact title of the book, the publisher and the year published; the last three items should be in parentheses. The edition number (if any), volume number (if any) and page numbers should also be supplied. Citation of a contribution to a collection must include the names of the authors of the contribution, the name of the editors, and the publication date as for a monograph.
Tables and figures. Each table must be numbered consecutively with Roman numerals, and must have a complete title. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit figures in a high-resolution electronic format. Preferred formats include: TIFF, EPS or PDF. Good quality figures have the following characteristics. They should have lines, letters, numbers and symbols of uniform strength and contrast. Figures (except photographs) should be reduced to 6 × 6 cm. The final thickness of a line in a figure usually lies within the range 0.15–0.20 mm. When preparing the figures authors should pay attention to the widths of lines and similar details as some (e.g. dotted or thin lines) may disappear after reduction. Particular attention should be paid to line strengths in graphics prepared in vector formats.
Table and figure captions. Each caption should be written as a single brief paragraph without indentation. Figures and tables should be consecutively numbered with Roman numerals.
Acceptance. If an article is accepted for publication in the journal, the author(s) will be informed. All articles in PST are published using LaTeX typesetting code. Close this window
